Groovin' to the beat

It is time for another installment of Music in My CD Player! Today the set is funky/jam/folk.... Honestly, I don't know what you would call it, I just really like the sound of it. Here you go:

Warren Zanes - Memory Girls
David Gray - White Ladder
Amy Grant - Behind the Eyes
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Edie Brickell and New Bohemians - Ultimate Collection

I found Warren Zanes on the BMG site just randomly looking at the "related music" feature. Behind the Eyes is a melancholy album with rather sad lyrics when you consider that she composed those songs while going through the divorce with Gary Chapman (around that time, anyway.) I like the sound of the songs - really different from her old pop sound. I also really like her album of hymns. Did you know that Edie Brickell is still making new albums? We have her recent one called Volcano.

I hope you have enjoyed our show today. Thanks for playing. See you next time on Music in My CD Player!

Hi Tracy...

It was good to visit with you and Denis recently.

I guess I'll have to check a few of those artists out. I think I have Behind the Eyes but I've never really listened to it. I'll have to pull it out.

I'm headed down your way tomorrow..or rather over your way...as I'll be flying to the Bay Area for a week to do and operational security inspection for Travis Air Force Base. I'll wave as I pass over!

Hi Tracy,
I had no idea that Edie Brickell was still around. I never really go into her music. I assume that she is still married to Paul Simon.
David Grey I really like. I still have to pick up his latest album. How would you compare it to his first album? Or have you heard his first one.
Hope you have a great week. Tell Denis hi.

We have Life in Slow Motion by David Gray, but I don't know if that is his newest release. I honestly haven't listened to it in a while, so I don't remember how it compares to the first one. The one I have in the player now is his first.

PS. Volcano by Edie Brickell sounds really different from her old stuff. It is great! I think you would like it.

I lived most of my life (all but last year) in Southern California. There is no snow there at all
