I turned on word verification for a while. I've been getting an amazing number of spam comments and it's such a pain to find them and then delete them. I'm hoping this will cut it down.

I use comment moderation, with great success in reducing spam, only one in over 10 months.
Word verification is fine with me. I have noticed that it is easier to identify the letters than it used to be. I used to get it wrong half the time...even though I'm human! They changed it. It still works...but now I never get it wrong.
I think you'll find it helps a lot, and we're an accommodating bunch that can handle an extra step. (;
