I don't get it...
what is the purpose of blog spam? It seems that my blog has been targeted for random spam comments because of my inactivity. But I don't quite get what the point is. There have been 5 span comments on old posts from June or so, but who would ever read them to see the spam?

Tracy, you are not alone. One of my posts, http://justseven.blogspot.com/2008/09/overnight-guest.html has been hit with span several times in one week. Also got one on my Hershey's chocolate post. No inactivity here... I usually just "delete forever".
I don't get spam anymore. I turned on comment moderation and Ta-Da! its gone, haven't had a spam sense.
Word verification seems to work well.
