Greetings from Hood River

Hi there! Denis and I are up in Northern Oregon for the weekend. I had a conference to attend for work in Vancouver, WA and we decided to extend our time. We are staying at the historic Hood River Hotel and getting in touch with my roots. I was born here and lived in a small town at the foot of Mt. Hood until I was 11. It's a beautiful area. Today we are going to drive around visiting the local farms and hunting for "good apples" (Denis has specific tastes in apples) and admiring the mountains. I will take pictures. I hope your weekend is going well.

Good for you and Denis!! Lovely area that. Apple specific taste, humm. I guess I can relate, I have the same feelings about oranges.

We'll be there Sunday!! If you're up in the orchards, we'll be at Mt View Orchards after about 1:30. I love their apples. I am not sure what Denis likes, but they have about 20 varieties plus several varieties of pears. For sure, when we're in town, I'll look for you. Here is my cell if you want to call 503-901-5635

Did you find the "good apples"? I have a great Apple Crisp recipe.

We found some great Jonagolds at an organic orchard up there. They are soooo yummy. They taste like I remember apples tasting when I was a kid.

I bought a Jonagold to see what it was like. It was okay but I still like a Honeycrisp. Does that make me an apple snob?
